Chapter 6 - Computer Concepts and Legal Applications

Audio

The power of sound should not be overlooked in your presentations. Sound can stir an immediate emotional response. To use sound, it is necessary to have a soundcard or the “hardware” built into the motherboard or computer chip. Most soundcards enable one to record, playback, and edit sound. The sound converter on your card will change analog sound to a digital format. These are commonly labeled as WAV files and require a significant amount of storage. MIDI stands for the Musical Instrument Digital Interface. Sound cards that include MIDI enable you to play back a musical performance right on the computer.
