Chapter 4 - The Internet and Telecommunications

Conclusion

Telecommunications will pay a significant role in the practice of law as we transition into the Information Age. As the bandwidth and compression and decompression techniques improve, we will be able to communicate with courts, opposing counsel, our clients, and others over the Internet. One must keep a watchful eye on the most efficient and effective connection to the Internet in your area. Whether it is POTS, cable, satellite, or other methods, the increased bandwidth will save time in sending and receiving text, audio, graphics and video. It is a time that firms will have to strategically plan for the integration of these new tools and channels of communication.

One of the noteworthy trends is the integration of computers and the telephone and, increasingly, television and radio. All of these electronic means of communication will enhance our ability to provide timely and quality advice to our clients.
